The garden design brief was to provide the clients with a contemporary courtyard that could be utilised all year round as an outside room. The client wanted to use the space to relax and run yoga classes by day, and come the evenings, extend its use with lighting for entertaining and dining. as an interior designer, the client had a very sophisticated palette and it was imperative that the design complimented the exterior and interior of the house.
Large white limestone paving was used to give the courtyard a contemporary and clean feeling, reinforcing the outdoor room philosophy. The raised beds were rendered with a tonal grey mix, a special feature of the garden that gave the finish a more natural look. a bold feature wall painted in a hot south american terracotta to provide a dramatic backdrop for the mainly green foliage. a long water trough welcomes you into the courtyard, positioned by the courtyard gates, and lights wash over the white floor and uplight the yellow stemmed bamboos and palms.
