The Courtyard Garden design brief was to transform a dark, shady and unutilised l-shape courtyard into a bright, welcoming space that would allow the family to relax and entertain. A storage unit and a bench were also desired.
To make the most of the space, Portuguese white limestone paving was used and the walls were painted with a blushed pink to make the space appear brighter. Raised beds and a bespoke hardwood corner bench made from balau wood were fixed and a slatted hardwood storage unit was used to house the family’s bikes and bbq.
With space at a premium, the planting is limited but creates a formal planting scheme, clipped Portuguese laurels, a low yew hedge and box balls add the structure. French lavender and jasmine, trained onto the wall add colour and fragrance throughout the summer. Distressed storm lanterns and 3 three oval shaped pots add the finishing touches.
